I haven't been juicing long. In all honesty, it's a relatively newer journey I've been on. For almost two years now I've stuck to a mostly plant-based diet, but last fall, I started seeking opportunities to not only broaden my plant-based diet, but to improve my nutrition and overall health.
Not that my already plant-based diet was leaving me feeling deficient in any way, I'm just a health nut and had been really enjoying geeking out about nutrition. I wanted to be better versed in plant-based nutrition and how to balance my diet as well as how to improve my already healthy diet, if that was even possible. And just like with all things I'm truly passionate about, I knew It was time to do some studying up

Flashback to right before the summer of 2017: It's April and I'm starting to feel utterly hopeless about finding a good summer job... After what felt like FOREVER of applying for and interviewing for job after job....after job, none of which were really even exciting to me, I unexpectedly got an email. Apparently, one of my professors was looking for an undergraduate field technician to fill a position helping collect data for one of her Master's students and she wanted ME to do it!
It's hard to stay environmentally conscious while on a road trip. After all, driving is one of the least sustainable means of travel there is. Nevertheless, my closest girlfriends and I had an itch to scratch. We needed to get out and travel together. It was time to see some of the world and make new memories together!
So, over the span of 15 mid-May days, all five of us crammed into one minivan to travel a total of approximately 5300 miles, including visits to nine national parks, eight states, and two countries! Camping each and every night, even though some of these ladies had never been camping before in their lives, and lasting the whole 15 days without a single shower, we managed to successfully travel all over the western United States and parts of southwest Canada while keeping our impacts on the planet in mind. |
